Guide to Solar Financing

CESA imageThe Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) has released a guide to help homeowners understand the different products available in the complex world of residential solar PV system financing.  CESA is a national, nonprofit coalition of public agencies and organizations working together to advance clean energy. The membership of CESA includes many state agencies throughout the USA and includes California agencies such as the California Energy Commission and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.

This guide helps homeowners make sound decisions and select the best financing option for their needs. The advantages and disadvantages of leases, loans, and power purchase agreements (PPAs) are described, and how they compare to a direct cash purchase. It clarifies key solar financing terms and provides a list of questions homeowners should ask before deciding if and how to proceed with installing a solar system.
